"Espee in New Jersey"
In 2012 lease units started to make more regular appearances on CSX trains throughout the system, one of these units happened to be an ex-Southern Pacific unit which still wore its original SP paint. That particular unit ventured to Philadelphia in the trailing position on CSX Q301 which serves as a transfer freight between Newark, NJ and Philadelphia. Having missed the unit the night before I set out the following day to shoot it. After my initial shot in South Plainfield was compromised due to a poor driving decision I set out to Hillside in hopes of redemption. As luck would have it the train was only minutes away when I arrived. Despite the cloudy weather I was pleased with the end result as ex-Southern Pacific EMD's in their original SP paint are a very rare find in New Jersey. |
