Remarks & Notes |
CNW 1281 and 1280, the railroad's only SW600s idle at Eau Claire between switching duties. These were the only two of their type on CNW and were EMD's catalog replacement for the 600 hp SW1 from about 1954. The two units spent much of their career together in Eau Claire handling industrial switching duties and transfers between the Eau Claire yard and Altoona. They also worked mainline locals such as the Mondovi turn which ran east from Altoona, then west to Mondovi from Fairchild. They ran in their original "Route of the 400" victory stripe scheme their whole career with CNW. |
