Vermont Rail System's Whitehall Yard was the scene of this very diverse display of motive power - both moving and stationary - at 00:29 hours on January 18, 2015. The NS haulage train, CP symbol 931-16, is rolling northbound on the CP Canadian Mainline Subdivision with a unique consist that includes two original Chicago & North Western locomotives bracketing a CSXT C40-8W. CNW C44-9W 8646 leads the CSXT C40-8W 7861 and CN C40-8 2129 (ex-CNW 8546), while CP GP38-2 7309 and D&H GP38-2 7304 idle for the DA13/D47 local. In between the two trains is the Vermont Rail System's CLP 263-18 train with GMTX GP38-2 2205 leading CLP GP38-2 204 and VTR GP38-3 205. All told, 8 locomotives on hand, 8 paint schemes represented and 2 lightning stripes!
Crazy pool power consists, colorful gatherings of locomotives at a diesel service area, or a mixture of colorful locomotives in storage lines. A minimum of four different paint schemes required.
Not
just heritage schemes, not just commemorative schemes - this album is devoted to some of the world's most interesting paint schemes, past or present.
