Over the last five years or so I have made fairly regular trips down to Umkomaas on the KwaZulu Natal South Coast to watch and photograph the ex South African Railway Class 19D steam locomotives of the Sappi / Saiccor steam operations, and I have enjoyed these visits immensely! Time is however very short now for the remaining two working steam locomotives (there were three) before the switch over to their diesel replacement, bringing to an end what can only be described as an extraordinary era. So, one final photo from me of Saiccor No.3, ex South African Railway Class 19D, No. 2767 (4-8-2), seen here taking it easy in the late afternoon sunlight on her way back up to the mill from the timber exchange yard. Saiccor No. 3 / No. 2767 was built by Robert Stephenson and Hawthorns in 1945.
