Awaiting its departure time at Washington DC's Union Station, Amtrak AEM-7AC 948 is in charge of one of the carrier's many, many Northeast Regional trains, which connect population centers all along the eastern seaboard. Buit as an AEM-7 in 1988, and converted to AC power in July 2001, motor 948 is nearling the end of its service life as Amtrak's 900s are replaced with newer Siemens-built 600-class ACS-64 locomotives. Photographed on railroad property with permission and full PPE.
