14A approaches Menzies Creek bunker-first with an official train re-enacting a 'Young Sun' special from 1954. The specials were run 60 years ago by the Young Sun newspaper as a last farewell to the railway; however they proved so popular and attracted so much attention that the event was repeated a few weeks later. The attention attracted by these specials played a major part in the railway being saved for future generations as a tourist railway. The loco that ran the original specials, 3A, still exists but is a long way from restoration. For the re-enactment train pictured, 14A was made to look extremely similar to how 3A appeared in '54: Covered in grime, missing number plates, no headlight, and of course the special yellow head board.
