MILW SDL39 no. 581 and a flanger begin their trip out of Eau Claire in farily heavy snow conditions. the flanger will help clear the branchline as the train makes its overnight turn to Winona, MN. The bridge is over the Chippewa River, one of two on this line in Eau Claire, both of which had weight restrictions which kept GP9s and F units off this branch. Typical diesel power were RSC2s, SW1s and in later years, the SDL39s.
