In yet another case of "I was not happy with what was in front of me" (at the time), here we have Utah Railway Mainline 2. Laid off from flying for United Airlines and nothing better to do, I wanted to photograph a solid lashup of the CAT-powered MK5000Cs. So I flew out to Utah, only to find all but a couple of the MK5000Cs were already sidelined and at Boise for rebuild into SD50-3s. In retrospect, what was a common lashup of first and second generation EMDs at the time is now a pretty nice catch. The EMD SD40s were reactivated at this point to cover the power shortage created by the MK5000Cs going back to Boise for re-rebuild.
