The MOW crews cleaned the switches, engine 6812 got train 415 into the "hole", and now CNW train 406, the CN-DWP connecting train from Duluth-Superior to Chicago headed up by CNW 6809, roars by at better than 50 mph. In these days the CNW mainline here was posted for 60 mph. The line was double track until passenger service was discontinued in the early 1960s. CNW single tracked it and placed spring switch equipped passing sidings at strategic locations.
