Steamscape - The Steptoe Valley. A colorful Nevada Northern mixed freight hammers its way north through Mosier Cut, en route to Hiline Junction and finally, McGill. This image gives you just a taste of what the Nevada Northern main line looks like north from Ely, all the way to Cobre. To the east (on the right) is the Schell Creek Mountain Range, which is the longest north-south range in Nevada, stretching for 132 miles. To the west (on the left), the Egan and Cherry Creek Ranges dominate. In the center, there nothing but a flat, high-desert plain, called the Steptoe Valley, which stretches just as far as the eye can see.
