Remarks & Notes
Today at about 6:45 an Interregio from Zürich to Schaffhausen hit a S-Bahn train in Rafz. The current state of guesswork is that the Interregio was late and supposed to overtake the S-Bahn train, whose driver thought the green light was his and accelerated. The train protection system at the home signal caused an emergency brake application, but when the train stopped it was already partially standing on the switch. Probably only seconds later the Interregio hit the S-Bahn train at over 100 km/h and was pushed out of the track. Nearly the entire train derailed, with the locomotive ending up completely beside the track. The fire brigade had to cut open the cab of the locomotive to rescue the engineer. The oil drums were probably used to remove the oil of the transformer (coolant).

You can find more pictures here.

Sadly the Interregio's engineer was seriously injured and four passengers were lightly injured. I wish them all a speedy recovery!
