Burlington Northern #450 - [A Study of Moving Coal Cars] - This open hopper built in February of 1976 by the Pullman Standard Company rolls down the Cajon Pass loaded with Utah coal in route to West Colton California and perhaps Asia beyond that.
The Burlington Northern merged with the Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe Railroad on December 31, 1996, and the BN was renamed the Burlington Northern & Santa Fe Railway.
In 2005, the name was shortened to the BNSF Railway Company.
By the looks of the Union Pacific Car shop sticker (fluorescent green) on the right and the fact that the car was on a UP coal drag, this car probably belonged to the Union Pacific Railway at the time of this photo.
