The somewhat elusive Conrail OI-8 makes an early afternoon run from Oak Island Yard to Metuchen Yard via Amtrak's Northeast Corridor. Hearing this train on the radio was a nice surprise, but an even nicer surprise was the former Erie Lackawanna SD45-2 (ex-EL 3676, CR 6661) in the lead. OI-8 is passing through NJ Transit's North Elizabeth station while a westbound NJT local makes a station stop on track 4. The freight entered the corridor moments earlier at Lane interlocking where Conrail's Lane Running Track joins track 2 of the NEC.
