Remarks & Notes |
In September 1999, Hurricane Floyd hit the east coast of the United States. The storm struck North Carolina the hardest causing extensive flooding which led to over flowing of many rivers. The storm washout and eroded a large section of land below the tracks near the Milepost A91. CSX Transportation closed the tracks and a bridge was constructed to allow trains to cross the newly formed ravine.
Today, 16 Years later, in 2015 Amtrak 80 charges Northbound on a warm Sunday afternoon. This train will pass through the small town of Halifax soon. |
