| My trip to the Copper Basin still ranks among my best trips. A guided tour of the operation with the CEO without any prior arrangements speaks loudly of treatment visitors receive, if following the protocol of seeking permission before entering company property. The ore unloading process at Hayden is a very interesting part of daily operations on this shortline, as an ASARCO employee pulls manual dump handles on each car as they roll through the dump house. Dust from the copper concentrate flies as OT-1 eases the train along, under the guidance of the traffic signals. |
