I lived in New Bern for about 2 years. Almost all of my time here was devoted to flying, but I liked the local railroading scene which was only a few blocks from my apartment. Standard operations had a local from Morehead City coming in around midnight, which I would walk up Hancock Street if I was still awake on a day off. Once or twice a week, the New Bern local would go south in the morning, providing an opportunity to photograph a train on Hancock Street. On this particular day off (I had one a week at this point in time), I heard the train, and booked it into position at Hancock and S. Front Street in New Bern. The conductor is making good time to flag the intersection of said streets. I wish I could say this was some big planned shot, but it is merely a grab shot which came together in hindsight.
