McCloud River No. 18 serves as motive power for a freight captured here at Scales just west of Silver City in American Flat, NV. At one time there were, in fact, scales located here used to weigh ore cars departing for the mills to the south. The site also served as a water stop for trains traveling between Carson City and Virginia City and, thought tank is long gone, the footings remain.
