An all-CN powered Prince Rupert, BC-bound export coal train follows the Clark Fork River downstream through the railroad west (geographic east) switch of Toole. The Clark Fork runs brown with dirt due to an unusually high runoff in 2011.
For a time, this coal train and others would run from the Powder River Basin north to Laurel, MT, west over MRL to Sandpoint, then over BNSF via Spokane, Pasco, Vancouver, WA, and Seattle before arriving at Vancouver, BC. From there, CN would take them east on their mainline all the way to Valemount, then westward again via Prince George to Prince Rupert.
