Remarks & Notes |
Utah Railway #5005 is bringing its loaded coal train to a stop at the exact top of the grade at Soldier Summit, Utah; elevation just short of 7500 feet. Head end power on this train is 4 of the URY’s unique MK5000’s. Further back in the train is a 5 unit manned helper set of 1 MK5000 and 4 Australian built SD50’s. The manned helpers will cut off at this point and return east to Martin yard. Some time after this shot was taken the Utah Ry. began cutting the mid train helpers out at the Colton crossovers 6 miles east of Soldier Summit. If you look closely at the far end of the train you can see the smoke from the still shoving helpers. |
