In September 2013, a washout on the Moffat Line turned UP's Soldier Summit into a much busier line than normal. On September 20th I headed up to check out the action, arriving just as a UP coal train left Helper to pound up the grade. Minutes later, the Utah Railway sent their own loaded train up behind it. Once the show was over it was time to wait for each train to set out its helpers. The UP train was first, its helpers seen here swerving along the Price River as it heads for Helper. In the distance, the Utah waits it's turn to set out its mid-train helpers.
