UP’s northward local out of Las Vegas with 2 GP35’s nears Dry Lake, Nevada as a cab-hop on Oct. 12, 1974. Ironically-named Dry Lake was the location of UP’s ample water supply for drenching hogs and pigs on the hoof on their journey from the midwest to Farmer John’s Bacon & Sausage in Los Angeles, the last livestock trains operated in the USA. |
