In this case, an eastbound empty unit coal train is rolling through a heavy rain storm en route to Williamson, WV, along the NS main line. This was once the Scioto Division of the Norfolk & Western, where Class A 2-6-6-4s like the 1218 routinely handled 190-car coal trains westward along this same route. Today, modern GE and EMD six-axle motor power like these handle even heavier trains.
