Remarks & Notes

WCAM-3 type AC/DC locomotives were specially manufactured to cater the 1500 DC as well as 25000 V AC overhead supply. Mumbai and nearby regions have 1500 V DC overhead wiring whereas rest of India has 25000 V AC supply. Manufactured by Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited, these locomotives work under both the tractions with one pantograph for each type. In this image such dual power loco is about to take charge of Pune-Mumbai Deccan Queen express on her 84th birthday. Also seen in the background are an EMD and a ALCO which are also commonly used here.
