After being away from home rails for nearly 10 years on a long term lease, the three NYS&W SD70M's had returned to the railroad in late 2010 and served on the railroad until May 2011 when all three were sidelined due to mechanical issues. Prior to being sidelined the units primarily served as "b-units" until March 25, 2011 when NYSW 4052 was set to lead the evenings SU-99.
Having battled the evening rush hour on Route 80, my Dad and I were able to beat the SU-99 to West Milford, NJ where the train is seen accelerating across the Hamburg Turnpike. This evening the train featured for the first time in 10 years an SD70M leading the Westbound manifest warranting an extensive chase across the system. Luckily for my dad and I we stumbled upon this train earlier in the evening at the yard in Bogota which allowed us to take advantage of the unusual leader.
From a hint of "Bee" (NKP 765), colorful "Bees" (KCS), "Bees" w/ "attitude", to "Bees" that "sting" your eyes, in their own way they have "Bee" on display! Equipment that "Buzzes" with Yellow & Black colors! ("Bees" can still "Bee" entering this "hive"!)
