Remarks & Notes
Coming through the brambles east of Marysvile, Kansas, GP9 237, GP20 480 and an unidentified GP30 are eastbound October 13, 1965, with the daily freight on the 107-mile Marysville-St. Joseph, Missouri, branch. The eastern-most one-third of the historic St. Joseph & Grand Island Railway, a line that once entertained transcontinental ambitions, the branch has been operated as part of the UP since the 1930s. In 1990, it will be sold to Railtex-owned Northeast Kansas & Missouri Railroad, but UP will reacquire the line in 1999 and eventually abandon the eastern 45 miles.
