Remarks & Notes |
BNSF is quickly working to double track the North La Crosse Yard to Control Point Graf segment of track while the opposition groups try in vain to fight it in court. As indicated in the photo, fill has been dumped for the new roadbed and a temporary bridge has been built while construction begins on the permanent structure. In the distance in the photo where the new roadbed ends they are working on a new bridge across the La Crosse River. The swamp is nearly bottomless, as indicated by the markings of 150' on the bottom of the last steel beam being pounded down to bedrock. Crude oil profits are not only paying for this three miles of double track through the city of La Crosse and the swamp, but CTC has been installed and cut-over along the Aurora Subdivision and the Mississippi River. |
