Remarks & Notes
Transcisco EMD F7(B) 101 at Jacumba California 2015 - Transcisco Tours was an operating company that owned passenger equipment and motive power that was operated as Amtrak charter trains on Class 1 track and as Transcisco trains on short lines and private rail prior to the company's Bankruptcy in or about 1991-92. After Transcisco's demise, their equipment which was purportedly re-furbished to the highest standards, was snapped up readily at auction by a number of RR entities including the Spirit Dinner Train in Washington State and UP. At the sale, Spirit purchased among other assets, a set of EMD F7(A)s numbered 100 and 102. Also purchased with the F7(A)s was this B Unit that was never repainted in the Spirit paint scheme. Transcisco also ran "The Texan" dinner train out of San Antonio Texas which is presumably what this B was used on. All three units were later purchased by the the old San Diego and Arizona Eastern based in San Diego, California and it is alleged that they were to be used on a Tecate to Tijuana commuter service that was requested around 2006, by the State of Baja California. While the A units saw service with the the Carrizo Gorge Railway (the successor in interest to the SD&IV) the B unit was never placed into service and images that I have located of it out on the Desert Line, specifically state that it was DIC. Now with the Pacific Imperial Railway (PIR) being the successor in interest to the Carrizo Gorge Railway, the future of all the motive power in the yard at Jacumba is up for grabs. Interestingly though, while the yard and the tracks are under a 99 year lease by PIR from the San Diego MTS, there is a sign on the B and the former Amtrak car attached to it stating that they are property of the "Institute of Perception."

These are engines that are either already scrapped, are in deadlines, or they're in severe danger of being scrapped. Not everything can be preserved.

The best that the Streamlined Era had to offer, brought together in one handy album. Includes EMD, Alco, Baldwin, F-M, and GE - plus a few surprises.
