Sky Scrapers Of The West A Southwestern Railway grain train creeps into Johnson City, Kansas, splitting a couple grain elevators. These grain elevators are the only things that mark the locations of towns. During our drive down highway 50, we passed hundreds of these "sky scrapers, and each one marks the location of a town. In most places, the elevators were the only thing there, like the town in the very background of the photo, you can barely see a grain elevator on the horizon, just behind the train.
