Remarks & Notes |
BNSF 12562 brings up the rear of a BNSF fire train which they brought into Wenatchee and stationed it on the main just in case after a major wild fire broke out near their tracks west of Wenatchee near MP 1654 Sunday pm about 2 pm local time. The fire grew to over 1800 acres and destroyed approx. 28 homes by Monday morning. Over 1000 were evacuated including our family. The fire spread along the railroad for about a mile, but mostly moved up the hill side. Embers are believed to have started a major structure fire at Stemilt Fruit, about a mile north of this photo, which closed the railroad. At this submittal the railroad remains closed. |
