This SW1 celebrates its 75th year and is still running strong. It must be in the running for the oldest operational engine in Colorado that is not a museum piece. Built in 1940, #63 has operated for the Elgin Joliet & Eastern Railway, Coors beer, Colorado Sweet Gold, and most recently for the Great Western Railway of Colorado (OmniTrax). Named “The Kernel” with a paint scheme to match, this engine can be found at the former Colorado Sweet Gold plant on the east side of Johnstown, Colorado.
Not
just heritage schemes, not just commemorative schemes - this album is devoted to some of the world's most interesting paint schemes, past or present.
