There's not much here to give away the date! While photographed in 2014, it could almost have been 1939 as well. Built by EMC in March 1939, this FT A-unit was originally demonstrator 103 before being sold to the Southern Railway as their engine 6100. Restored to its original scheme for EMD's 50th anniversary in 1989, it was paired with an ex-Southern Railway FT B-unit to create the last FT set (they were all built as A-B combinations) in existence.
