The St. Louis, Iron Mountain & Southern operates an excursion and dinner train service with an ex-PRR E8, which recently received a new coat of paint but has not yet been lettered. This unit saw excursion service on the Blue Mountain & Reading (now Reading & Northern) in the 1980's. The railroad operates for a few miles southward from downtown Jackson on the original StLIM&S - a predecessor of the Missouri Pacific. The excursion operation adopted the original name of the road when it began operating in the mid-1980's.
