With the threat of a thunderstorm looming in the distance, a southbound FPPX (Fayette Power Project) loaded coal drag snakes off the Reno Subdivison from Black Thunder Mine and back onto the Orin Line at Reno Junction headed by a pair of evolution series General Electric units. This nearly 130-car train of Wyoming "black diamonds" is destined for unloading at the Sam Seymour power plant located outside La Grange, TX, which is owned by Austin Energy and operated by the Lower Colorado River Authority (LCRA). The large structure off to the left is the West Thunder Mine loadout facility, which receives its coal via a massive conveyor belt running from the Black Thunder Mine. I can't wait to return back to the Powder River Basin in the near future.
