Forest Park, GA-bound autorack/local train GE44 has just entered the former Central of Georgia mainline to Macon, GA at CP Spring in downtown Atlanta. Three veteran Southern locomotives as well as two ex-leasers are powering the train past another Southern veteran, the interlocking tower from the now-gone Terminal Station. The tower is still in use by homeless people and passing hobos, but it's a good safe haven for them. As two homeless men said as they passed by me on the bridge, "Home is a state of mind." Though it may not be totally legal, I'm glad that these people can make use of one last piece of history of Atlanta's once-thriving passenger train era.
