Remarks & Notes |
CNW 1385 is the only example of their R-1 class engine surviving. Built in March 1907 it was one of 325 R-1s acquired between 1901-1908. Retired in 1956, it was purchased by the Historical Society of Milwaukee in 1963 which moved it to North Freedom and became a show piece for the Mid-Continent Railway Museum. The engine was operating in the museum when photographed in August 1973, and continued in service for most of the 80s and 90s. It has been under restoration since 1998, and I am not sure of its current status. |
