I heard the UP's Green River Sub dispatcher talking to the Dirt Train a couple of times but I could not figure out where the train was. Finally I heard the crew request permission to enter the main line at East Wash and go east to Mounds and the Sunnyside Sub. The DS told them he would have to hold them for a half hour or so for a westbound coal train to pass by before he would let them out on the main. This delay allowed me just enough time to get to the short Wellington Canyon before the Dirt Train got out of jail at Wash. The westbound coal train passed, it was bound for the IPP plant near Delta, UT, and then here comes the Dirt Train. The east switch of Wash is just out of sight around the corner and the #1653 and mates are just now accelerating up to track speed. Great morning sun, skies were crystal clear and boy did those 3 SD40N's sound good.
