After shooting this Union Pacific Dirt Train at Wellington, Utah, I raced ahead of it to Mounds, then up the Sunnyside Sub, forded Grassy Trail Creek and finally to the lower end of East Carbon Development’s yard. I made it in time to select my photo spot at the derail and listen to the wonderful bass rumble of those 3 SD40N’s working up the grade. I got the shot as the conductor unlocked and lined the derail for movement into the yard.
