Remarks & Notes
A Norfolk Southern eastbound "Hill Run" is charging up the grade to Clark's Gap, West Virginia, as the sun sets on a brilliant spring day at Herndon. Four-axle power is rare in the coalfields, and GP60 no. 7123 is throwing quite a plume of diesel exhaust into the mountain air as it leads three GEs on the headend of this unit coal train, which came down from Deepwater earlier in the day. Three more GEs are pushing on the rear.
