We are at GI Tower (closed June 1968) looking northeast along the NYC's mainline from Louisville to Colombus, Indiana. This area would be completely unrecognizable today. Any sign that the railroad was ever here is long gone, Interstate 65 runs directly overhead, and the surrounding area, which was once heavily industrial, has been completely repurposed into Louisville's revitalized waterfront park and Slugger Field, home to the AAA Louisville Bats, only a block away. On the left side in the distance one can just make out the deck girder approach structure to the Big Four Bridge, which was the NYC's gateway into Louisville from the north.
