After an incredibly successful day on the Pocahontas Division, I didn't think the weekend could get much better until a message came saying that this unit was set to lead the Gainesville, GA-Greenville, SC turn back south. I was in the right place at the right time to capture this image of SOU SD40 3170 passing the Seneca, SC depot on the point of local freight P91. The train wasn't working overly hard here, but by the time they reached the mountain at the SC/GA state line, the four EMDs were screaming.
Selected photos of locomotives, passenger cars, and rolling stock in the Southern's livery as well as other assets once belonging to or used by the Southern.
