Beginning its 1.1% assault up Edelstein Hill, a westbound intermodal Q-train off the CSXT in Chicago leans into Houlihan's Curve on the outskirts of Chillicothe with an attractive lash-up in charge: Two CSXT EMDs, a "naked nose" SD70MAC and an offline SD40-2, along with a BNSF Dash 9-44CW. These CXOLAC trains run daily from an intermodal terminal at North Baltimore, OH to the port of Los Angeles in California. Running as the CSX Q171 from Ohio to the interchange point in Chicago at BNSF's Corwith Yard, the train receives a BNSF crew and new symbol for its journey to the west coast. I saw this exact same consist on another Q-CXOLAC train about a week prior, only that time it was flipped around with the BNSF up front. The SD70MAC is looking kind of shabby and could use a fresh coat of paint with a nose emblem.
