On Friday, I paid what has become a nearly annual visit to Vermont Railway's B&R Subdivision between Rutland and North Bennington, Vermont. With the exception of 2010 and 2012, I've visited the line every October since 2008. It's been 6 years (2009) since I last photographed the B&R Job under sunny skies in October, and this year would prove to be no exception. In fact, this time I also I had to contend with pouring rain. In 2013 and 2014, engines in leased paint led the trains I caught. Why on earth, then, would I dare come back? The answer: the spectacular Fall foliage that can be found along this line. This year--in addition to decent Fall foliage--I also managed to catch a non-leased-painted engine leading. Even better, it was one of the Green Mountain GP40s--the 305--which last I heard was supposed to be leaving the property. In any case, the GMRC 305 and nice Fall color combined to produce some images I was satisfied with. Here, the train heads south through Danby, Vermont.
