Remarks & Notes |
Grinding upgrade toward Affinity with 100 empty hoppers, a pair of NS motors emerge from the tunnel at Loop Creek Junction and continue across a small trestle. This is known as the "loops" on the former Virginian Railway Winding Gulf Branch. The trestle in the foreground formerly spanned the old C&O Winding Gulf Branch, which was removed in 1997. This line is rarely photographed, and is the pure definition of coal country railroading. |
