Guangzhou is a very crowded city. This pedestrian crossing, which I found while walking in the area of the main Guangzhou Railway Station, provides a good example. A DF4-led train of auto racks is on a connecting track between the non-electrified Guangmao Line and the electrified Guangshen Line, heading east toward Shenzhen. This crossing is located in a tight space between an overpass and a row of buildings which closely line the right of way. It is guarded by familiar-looking flashing red lights and crossbucks (not visible) and is also manned by employees who raise and lower gates well before a train approaches. One guard can be seen immediately the left of the locomotive. It is a fascinating operation to watch!
