I was about ready to call it a day when the scanner finally broke a prolonged silence- "NS 213 with the CP 9590 would like permission past your conditional stop sign located at the milepost three-three-seven dot zero, over". After a day of catching almost exclusively catfish, I decided that I'd stick around a while longer. After all, what foamer in their right mind wouldn't want to catch a CP-led consist in the Southeast United States. As the train grew closer, the typical Carolina summer afternoon clouds began playing games with me, I was watching the shadows roll along the right-of-way, at the same time hearing the train calling signals ever closer to my location. As the headlight rounded the corner, a huge "sucker hole" opened up in the clouds, enough to light up the consist and the first few cars of the train. Although it would have been nice to have the SD60 leading, I'll take whatever I can get. And hey, a CP GE in the "beaver" scheme ain't all bad. Not bad at all, as a matter of fact.
