Although the town of Cassandra is comprised of only 147 residents, the village is well known by railfans from all over. Named the "World Famous Cassandra Overlook," this old iron bridge used to carry RT 53 until it was abandoned in 1936. Somehow, the bridge stood for 60 years out of the eyes of the public and the PRR, PC, and CR -who never demolished the bridge. Today it serves as a privately owned railfan park...in some impressive fall foliage.
