Remarks & Notes
Sun came out for some minutes only, when 2-6-2+2-6-2 narrow gauge Garratt steamlocomotives NNG 16 # 138 and 87 ex South African Railways (SAR) and now runnning for the Welsh Highland Railway are rounding the curve with a long freight train (photo charter). The gauge is 597 mm or 1 ft 10 3⁄4 in. # 138 (crimson livery) was built by Beyer-Peacock in 1958, # 87 (midnight blue livery) by Cockerill in 1937. The Garratts are running in "South African style" with a water tank car coupled between the two locomotives. In the background 3560 feet/1085 meter high Mount Snowdon (Yr Wyddfa), highest peak in Wales.

Landscape photography is difficult due to the challenge of combining good light and good scenery. Good railroad photography enters another level of complexity since it requires the first two while there is a train in view.
