From a precarious perch above Tunnel 15 deep in the Oregon Cascades, a friend and I beheld the sights and especially the sounds of railroading on the ex-SP Cascades Crossing. We listened to three consecutive southbounds work up the grade through McCredie Springs across the valley, around the lower loop above Heather, and finally right below us between Wicopee and Fields. The 3-train-fleet met one northbound at Fields which had to wait over two hours since neither Wicopee nor Heather was long enough to facilitate the meet. Seen here is the second of the three southbounds with the DPU's shoving hard to keep the heavy Oregon lumber moving against gravity.
