Remarks & Notes |
I had been driving north along I35 towards Duluth and had stopped a few miles back for a subway. I emptied the car of trash and stuck it in a bin and continued north. 20 minutes later I patted my shirt pocket and found that my phone wasn't there, panicking I looked at all the rubbish in the car and couldn't see it. Was it in the trash can back at the Subway? I had to stop somewhere so I drove along looking for a turn off. Finally after about 8 miles there was a junction. I pulled off and stopped in a car park by a knitting store. I searched through the debris on the front seat and found the phone under the road atlas. Phew! Realising that I was close to a railway line I drove around a bend and came across two guys with cameras by the side of the track. I stopped and asked them if there was a train due." Sure is "came the reply and one guy pointed to his T shirt which bore a picture of 261. A few minutes later a screech of wheels heralded the arrival of other railfans and then this. I didn't even know it was running.Only bit of luck I had during the ten day trip!! |
