Remarks & Notes
Affectionately called "the critter" by the crew, this center cab switch engine was constructed by General Electric in 1952 for the US Government. Behind the locomotive is a heavy duty flatcar built by the Magor Car Corporation in 1953 specifically for the loading capacity of two M48 Patton tanks, however these days the flatcar only sees intra plant use on the Fort Eustis Military Railway. The rail shop was dedicated to General Carl R Gray (1889 - 1955), commander of military railroads in Africa and Europe during World War II.
